The Merion Musical Society was co-founded by Mary W. Culbert and Joseph Rhode in 1977 with the mission to "foster and promote music and the interests of music in the community." The Society began as a Symphony Orchestra in 1977, but due to the overabundance of wind players who applied for the few positions available, it soon branched out to develop the Merion Concert Band.
Mr. Nathan Snyder, Director of the Concert Band, took the podium in February 2010.

I hear this and can't help but think of Ralphie from A Christmas Story
Really cool 😊

Interesting to have this played by a band rather than on a piano or organ.
Ah, my wife’s first piece. Lovely job!
nice!
such a beautiful concert ensemble
Glad to see not everyone forgot about this song ❤😊 well played!
Bravo!

We’re playing this song for my highschool’s spring concert, this recording has really helped me out when practicing my part by myself. This band has a really impressive sound too
Jeez
Starting at 0:39, the bells have to rest for 32 measures. I know this because I had to count it all out for concert band.
this is fire bro
Such beautiful music 🥰 I remember playing this in Memorial Concert Band over a decade ago. Brings back memories.
well played! congrats!
one of my favourite band pieces to play!
How could they miss shooting the chimes on chimes of liberty??? 😂
Horns are the least of these problems. Some good playing, especially trumpets and flute. Clarinets and percussion struggled. Bassoon entrance too early and piece almost fell apart. It's a tough piece but worth the extra work. Performed this with McBeth conducting himself.
my ip was leaked cuz of this song im going to find the author
Herfurth, with a "u."
I wish third trumpet had the melody 😢
Superb performance Merion Concert Band! Thank you for including my music on your program. My best to you in your future performances!
Thank you too!
How can I g😂t a copy of this arrangement for our concert band?
Great sound and a fantastic arrangement!
Many thanks!
I would stress the ability of Dr. James Gourlay to express the melodies of this piece in a declamative way, both the tender, intimous parts and the heroic ones. He manages to make the tuba sing in its whole range extension.
flute solo 6:28
Kudos to playing that last more quiet part... *BUT* ... it should've ended with that pianissimo Base drum/Piatti "dum tish".
a lil slow at 13
I got the oboe solo because we don’t got no oboes ( I play baritone, ands it’s only me)
wonderful!
Omg
god Jullie giroux was a literal genius this piece is a work of art rivaling that of Beethoven and Mahler
I heard this described as a memorial for the first hundred thousand men who died in WW1, which basically was the entire British Army at the beginning of the war.
Great job guys!!!
Trombones are WAAAAAAAAAAYYYY too loud!!
TROMBONES ARE NEVER TOO LOUD!!! >:D
Sounds excellent.
A big thank you to Erik Meyer for his arrangement.
beguine 5:08

Hhhhhhooooooollllllllaaaaa
Oh I love this song! I recently played this in my school band, and it was the best song that we played. My most favorite was Rudolph.

Very nicely done!
playing this at bristow :D
that happened to me at bristow last wednesday and thursday
I'm doing this at my school and I'm scared
It's not that bad
its fun espdcially the trombone part because theres a little secret jingle bells at the end
@@modeloman well I'm playing today so 🤞
@@RonPlayzRoblox635 yeah I play trumpet
@@modeloman for orchestra it's not going well.😳 It's harder for us cuz of the key.
My mother remembered Grofe's radio show on the Blue Network in the 1930s, almost 90 years ago!
hermoso, solo faltan los cowboys
